What dps gain does 180 AP give you?

Post  Farghood on Mon Aug 11, 2008 12:16 am

I'm thinking of switching spec to survival but need to know how much dps the raid would gain if I did. All physical dam classes would get ~180 AP bonus if I switch so I'd need your individual DPS gains from that AP to see if added it out weighs the dps loss I'm taking if switching (-150). pirat

(This post of course almost entirely targets the feral druids Wink )

The current spreadsheet formula is: ap / 14 = DPS with all classes. so that would mean a 12.86 increase in DPS p.p.
However, seeing that all the other stats are not calculated into it, the practical value should lie a little higher, depending on how good your gear is. People on the forums report a value lying closer to 7 ap per DPS, but there isnt real proof for that.
correct me if im wrong.

AP is AP, but like in my case, I have 3500 AP self buffed(no pots).
I think that survival sacrifice is entirely dependent on how many melee classes in total we have in every raid.

The thing about AP is that it raises your base dps with the numbers you said but for a hunter where all the specials and the pet is affected too, it can be much higher. According to a hunter spreadsheet Mardraum e.g. gets almost 51 dps from 180 AP though the base dps should only increase 12 dps.
